「軍国酒場」　藤原敦

かつては日本各地にあった軍国酒場も、私が知る限り現存するのは鹿児島市天文館にあるこの１軒のみだと思う。
齢８０歳となる店主夫妻が長年にわたり収集してきた先の戦争の遺品や資料の数々。それらは天文館の店舗以外にも霧島市隼人にある店主が自ら作った資料館「戦史館」に保管されている。私は膨大な遺品たちを前に立ち尽くし、これらの品々は今後どうなるのであろうかという想いを馳せながらフィルムに収めていった。今回は祖父の残した歌集「南国頌」をもとに１冊の写真集を編むべく撮影に訪れた鹿児島であったが、過去の集積であるこの酒場の映像を、未来に向けて本誌の最終号に掲載することにした。

Military Bars used to be everywhere inJapan, however, as far as I know, there is only one remaining now,which is located in Tenmonkan, Kagoshima-City.
There are a number of items and documentsfrom past wars in display, which were collected over a long period oftime by the shop owners, a married couple soon to be reaching the ageof 80.
Asides from the items displayed in Tenmonkan, other itemsare displayed at a museum called "war history museum" located inHayato, Kirishima-City, which is also owned by the same couple.I stood in front of overwhelming quantityof mementos and captured them on my film as I wondered what willbecome of those things in the future.
I visited Kagoshima in order to create aphoto book based on "Ode for the southern land of Japan", which is a poetrybook written by my grandfather, however,I have decided to post images fromthis bar, the accumulation of the past, as the last images of this magazine,in dedication for ourfuture to come.
