I did not have much interest in China, but I had an opportunity for my first visit to attend my younger brother's wedding.  Arrived in Beijing and I went to visit Nanjing where my sister-in-law's parents live and also to Shanghai.  I tried not to bring along any visual images accumulated in myself and I simply observed the daily living and scenery of people and shops on the streets, etc. One year had gone by and I visited Beijing and Shanghai, where my friends live because I wanted to shoot some images of Hutong once again. (Hutong is an old housing area in Beijing for ordinary people made up of many tiny roads.)  I walked by in front of this house where I shot images of hanging laundry the last time; it was half torn apart and there were no signs of people around.  While I was shocked to see how quickly things can be lost and changed, I walked around to find lives that were still remaining in this area. The notion that air and smell of particular land, atmosphere of an area such as people's voices and other city sounds have always existed on a single line since a long long time ago and while it may change over time, this line will never be cut off and it will continue to extend no matter what.  Only this notion along with images I captured remained.
