私はこれまでに新宿、池袋といった東京の副都心或いは繁華街を撮ってきたが、渋谷に挑戦したのは初めてである。一口に渋谷といっても山手線の渋谷駅から原宿にかけての繁華街を中心とし、地理的な意味での渋谷区総体を捉えたわけではない。実感したことは現在の流行の発信地であり、若者が多く、最先端の店舗が乱立してい、さらに外国人も多い。カオスという言葉がまさに相応しい街であった。また、新宿、池袋に比較すると原宿から渋谷にかけて二つの駅を蹂躙しているだけに面積も広かった。

I have done shootings of subcenters or downtowns in Tokyo such as Shinjuku and Ikebukuro in the past, but this was my first attempt to shoot Shibuya. When I say Shibuya, I mean the downtown area from Shibuya station to Harajuku station on Yamanoteline, so I did not try to capture the entire Shibuya-Ward in geographic sense. What I had come to realize was that this is the origin of current trends and full of young people, the area is crowded with cutting edge shops. There are also many foreigners. The word "chaos" is a perfect fit for this city. It also covers larger area as there are two stations from Harajuku to Shibuya compared to Shinjuku or Ikebukuro.
